Shine Little Glowworm

That’s the hit song from the 40s as sung by the Mills Brothers. In the Waitomo Glowworm Caves there seem to be as many glowworms on the walls and ceilings of the cave as there are stars in the universe. As Paul, our guide, mentioned, “glowworm” sounds a lot more attractive than “larvae” or “maggots,” even glow-in-the-dark maggots.

In one of the pictures you can even see the little "fishing lines" the glowworms (or "glow worms" spelled as two words)drop to catch smaller bugs.
