Our Iguazu Falls Boat Ride - Tempting Fate?

When we went on our wild and wet boat ride at Iguazu Falls in mid-March, we were aware the water was unusually high; in fact, boat rides for tourist to a little island in the gorge had been canceled for that very reason.

It shocked us to learn that tragedy struck during one of these rides within a few days of our visit. Those photos in the U.K. Daily Mail look so very familiar to us.

Living life is a risky business, whether riding boats under waterfalls, riding elephants in Thailand, or going on a tour of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), as we plan to do at the end of this week, but hiding under the bed at home isn't all that appealing so we persevere.

Heck, the Spanish taxi driver who hit 160 kph in a 60 kph zone while driving us to the Barcelona Airport a few days ago probably put us at greater risk statistically than most of our travel adventures.
