Surrey's Sabai Thai Restaurant

Before we forget, we found ourselves a very good Thai restaurant near Guildford Mall in Surrey BC last weekend.

Sabai Thai was recommended in the usual Internet places, and it was only a very short drive from our hotel. In fact, if it were somewhere other than the concrete jungle that comprises that part of Surrey, we could have walked.

While its location in a strip mall isn't inspiring, the interior of the restaurant was nicely decorated to the point of being lovely.

Our young server, dressed in Thai silk, giggled to find out we could say Hello and Thank you in Thai.

We ordered Pad Prig Khing, "a choice of Chicken, Beef or Pork, stir-fried with chilies, ginger paste, green beans, peppers and fresh lime leaves," and one of our favorites, Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles), "Stir-fried wide rice noodles with mixed Vegetables, eggs in a Thai spicy sauce."

We told her we wanted it spicy. "Like Thailand?", she asked. The chef even sent out a second server to make sure we really wanted it spicy.

Both plates were delicious and about as spicy as we could handle - serves us right. The red sauce component of the Pad Prigh Khing was outstanding.

More food than we could eat and one beer each resulted in a bill of $40, taxes included. We'll definitely return on any future trips to Surrey.
