Thursday morning we start off from the Richland Hampton Inn in a limo with six FlyerTalk friends...
No, not our limo but a winemaker's Jag. Business must be good...
Marvelous Wednesday evening appetizers at the Bookwalter Wine Bistro - Wagyu Wontons and Aroncini...
Friday morning finds us hitting the wine road - and the bottle - again...
Horse Heaven Hills in the distance...
Col Solare's charming Wisteria is no shrinking violet as she extols the various vintages of the brand...
Almost every winery has a winery dog or two. We even spotted a coffee table book, Winery Dogs of Washington.
Our last stop was at a small and charming family-owned winery with the tasting room literally housed in their converted garage...
Mrs. Kitzke even offered us a quick tour of the vineyards closest to their house...
Then it was back inside for a few purchases, back to the limo, and back to Richland, with only time for the quickest of farewell dinners at Casa Mia Italian Restaurant before we went our separate ways. Thank you Bob W., Bob and Fran, Ieva, Neal, and Bret, for inviting us along and for being such congenial companions along the wine trail.
We're back in Birch Bay with a somewhat replenished wine cellar after an overnight stop in Issaquah to watch Lily and Peyton attend their Saturday swim lesson and also to play "restaurant" with them. Alas, we only saw Avery on her way out the door to Saturday gymnastics - next time.
It's almost time to start packing for our Amtrak trip.
