We drove up to Chilliwack in time to watch Jake participate in the matinee performance of his school's musical production, a jolly show about pirates.
From there we drove Taegan up to Cultus Lake Elementary School to compete in Cross-Country (she did well on a very warm day).
Taegan was off to soccer after a hasty dinner and Jake and his parents were off to the evening performance of the musical, so we said our good-byes and headed for YVR.
We're parked, checked in, through security (what a treat - shoes stay on and only a metal detector to walk through this evening), and sitting in the quiet Maple Leaf Lounge. Business will pick up here as others arrive in anticipation of our 11:45 p.m. flight to Sydney but for now we have it almost to ourselves.
As we entered the lounge, we stopped to admire the glorious sunset. Now it's all darkness punctuated by green taxiway lights.
Our trip has officially begun.
