We slept well last night at Knysna (pronounced "Nyzna") Hollow Country Estate. We waited well over an hour for our dinners to arrive last night but when it did everything was hot and tasty. It was fortunate that Craig booked our dinner at 6:40 with another bus tour arriving at 7:15. We're guessing they would have been lucky to be served by 9:30 or 10:00 p.m. - another "This is Africa" moment.
As we strolled over to the main lodge from our room this morning we disturbed a flock of guinea fowl who were pecking at something or other in the grass. It was interesting to see such bulky and unwieldy-looking birds take to the air. We enjoyed a decent buffet breakfast this morning and one young waiter was so cheery and friendly (and generous with coffee) that we tipped him, probably a rare occurrence in tour groups eating buffet breakfasts.
We're on the bus now on our way to visit a cave (our second cave tour this year, the first being in Slovenia) and an ostrich farm in the "Ostrich Capital of The World."
We might just find a couple more eggs to take back to the households of grandchildren who didn't get one five years ago. They'll have to share, as a half dozen would require an extra suitcase.
The sun is shining this morning and we're optimistically anticipating mainly sunny weather for our remaining days in this area, one more night at Knysna followed by four nights in Cape Town.
