We stopped off at the Boulders Penguin Colony on our way back to Cape Town from the Cape of Good Hope. These African penguins are as cute as the Fairy (or Little) Penguins we saw in Australia a few years ago and just as curious about us as we are about them.
The black birds covering the rocks in the first picture are part of a large flock of cormorants that call this home as well..
We also spotted a couple of younger ones, known as "Baby Blues." The down of babies is replaced by a waterproof blue-gay plumage in which young penguins will eventually go to sea. At this age, they are called "baby blues" because of their new coloring.
