The funny thing was that the rain started to pour just as we loaded our
bags into the taxi just before 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon. We found my luck an honest
young taxi driver whose meter read less than 12 Euros by the time we got
to the port. Brian was so pleasantly surprised that he gave him 15.
Boarding the ship was a wet challenge as we had to walk up the traditional gangway used at most ports rather than embarking through an overhead walkway - for some reason they weren't in use. We got our rollaboards, small bags, and wine bags up the ramp with only a little added dampness.
Our stateroom seems huge after the porthole cabin on Nautica. It's larger, we have a balcony, and the bathroom has a separate tub and shower. We managed to snag an extra seating in Polo Grill last night and enjoyed our New York Strip steaks.
We watched the first part of the opening show. The cruise director, Roy, is from Havana and he sounds a little Desi Arnaz (Lucille Ball's husband). He seems to have a lot of energy and a good sense of humor.
Today we slept in, probably a mild side effect of our Bonine-type seasick pills. It's fairly calm out here as we steam some 500 nautical miles toward Morocco tomorrow morning.
We enjoyed watching a large MSC ship steam out of the port ahead of us last night. Standing on our balcony put us at about eye-level with the big guy's lifeboat deck.

It's a lovely day out there and we're well overdue in getting out to enjoy it.
Oh, and we are here.
