Yesterday proved to be a decent flying day for us, since our connection time at Newark allowed us to board our flight to Ft. Lauderdale, despite the one-hour delay.
We arrived at the annoying Ft. Lauderdale Airport Hilton in decent time. The cheap rate made up somewhat for the fact that the first room we were assigned had non-functioning air conditioning. In addition, their bottled water delivery hadn't arrived (their excuse) so they couldn't offer us the bottles of water we're entitled to. We could buy it in the gift shop though, where Brian noticed a stack of bottled water cases sitting on the floor.
Today we picked up our rental car and drove across the state to Marco Island, driving over a bridge which has been our highest elevation since landing at FLL last night.
We've just checked in at the Hilton Marco Island Resort, where we're staying for four nights on a pleasing off-season rate. This looks more like it.
The view from our 10th floor balcony doesn't look bad even on a cloudy day.
