Bangkok: Best Western Amaranth

We enjoyed our first flight on the Airbus A-380. As others have told us, the plane has separate sections so one is not necessarily aware of being on a huge plane. We sat on the upper deck in a large Business class. The seats were four across, not as roomy as ANA's configuration but still plenty of room.

The Thai service was gracious and, despite delays, we landed at Bangkok about 10:40 p.m. local time.

When we arrived at the Immigration counter, we learned that Thai hadn't handed out the needed forms so we were politely sent over to a counter to fill them out. That only took a few minutes and we were through the procedure and linking up with the airport representative of the Best Western Amaranth, where we're spending our first night. It appears to be a great place and very reasonably priced.

We caught the 11:30 p.m. shuttle, and it was a very solid 15-minute ride there in a comfortable van. We're now in our room and feeling quite ready to sleep well. Whether our bodies will co-operate is another matter.
