Busy In Bangkok

Last night we left the lounge Happy Hour and for a change of pace rode the Hilton boat across the river to the River City Mall and the well reviewed Tete Quarters by the River. We enjoyed our meal there, a change of pace from purely Thai cuisine and reasonably priced with a very agreeable ambiance.

Today we rode a couple of Sky Trains all the way up to the end of one line, Mo Chit, where we dived into the Chatuchak Weekend Market, touted to be the largest flea market in the world.

We stopped in at Terminal 21 Mall to pick up some cheese and crackers in the specialty market. Silly as it might sound, we're taking along provisions to provide some of our snacks to curb the hunger pangs. We can only eat so many $28 hamburgers without getting indigestion - or at least a sore wallet.

We also withdrew some Thai currency from the AEON ATM in the basement, thanks to FlyerTalk friend Greg, who brought it to our attention in the comments a few posts back. Unlike most ATMs, which now charge a hefty fee surcharge for ATM withdrawals, this one simply dispensed our cash. Greg: kob kun krab from Brian and kob kun kaa from Kathy!
Below is a view from the Sky Train platform of one edge of the gigantic weekend market. A quick walk through was more than enough, especially for Brian.
