Roquebrune-Cap-Martin: Le Piccadilly Lunch

We woke up about 2:00 a.m. and never got back to sleep, so we took it easy today.

We first walked the couple of blocks to the supermarket to buy some basic supplies.

After storing those we ambled through Menton and onward toward the  neighboring town of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin to see if L'Hippocampe, a popular restaurant, was open for lunch. We arrived after our 2 1/2-mile walk only to learn it's closed Mondays.

There's no shortage of restaurants in this part of the world, and we decided to return to Le Piccadilly, an informal little joint we'd previously enjoyed the day we walked over here while docked in Monte Carlo in a Mediterranean cruise.

Heck, even the New York Times liked it:

Kathy enjoyed her duck specialité du jour, while Brian, who appreciates neither canard nor today's menu alternative, beef tongue, settled on ravioli.

After that we returned "home," walking part of the way in a light mist (funny to watch the locals break out their umbrellas and plastic raincoats).

Our five-mile walk was enough for us today.
