Fosshotel Reykjavik

Our first impressions on arrival weren't that positive but they quickly improved.

The bus driver said he had to drop us off around the corner from the hotel because other buses were already clogging the entry. We picked up our bags and trudged along a slippery-looking walkway  before entering a crowded lobby.

Tired and somewhat sullen looking tourists took up the available seating spaces, making us so happy we had negotiated with the hotel to add one night to our package. What a treat to check in with a friendly young woman at the front desk, then head up to our room on the seventh floor - ocean view! - and nap for a few hours. A good investment!

It's a typical Scandinavian hotel room, almost Spartan, but with a comfortable bed.

Nice views from our window...

Yes, we enjoyed a decent buffet breakfast in the overcrowded hotel restaurant before our nap.
After our nap, we enjoyed a stroll along the waterfront.

It's easy to spot the hotel, at least until more highrises are built.

We dodged a sidewalk snow plow on the way back.
A pleasant day here, although night is already approaching at 5:30 p.m.
