We rejected the first with no back seat belts. We always explain that where we live it's illegal not to wear them so we feel uncomfortable. That seems to satisfy the law-abiding Chinese.
They obviously explained to the next driver what had occurred to us Friday, as he laughed and said to us "Wakey."
He drove us safely to the airport in light Sunday traffic and amazingly didn't honk once. He accepted our handsome (by local standards) tip with a big smile.
Past the world's biggest building by total floor area...
We checked in, managed to retain our carry-ins, and sat in the small lounge for awhile until it became too stiflingly warm.
We stepped outside and sat in the main waiting area, which was quite modern and pleasing, complete with comfort seating.
We boarded the Cathay Dragon A330 and in the middle two bulkhead seats.
The flight was fine, including the Tattinger Champagne.
We're now in Hong Kong with a heck of a long layover. We landed about 4:30 p.m. and don't fly BA HKG-LHR until 11:10 p.m.
We don't have to change terminals, so the Cathay Pacific Wing Lounge will be our home until then.
For the moment we're sitting downstairs as the upstairs is a little warm for our taste.
The downstairs showers, as well as the Champagne and the noodle bar upstairs should help us while away the time.
