Over the next 24 hours or so we're flying British Airways from Venice (VCE) to London (LHR) to Hong Kong (HKG), the latter being about a 12-hour flight.
From HKG we fly onward on Cathay Dragon, formerly Dragonair, to Chengdu, China (CTU), arriving around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, local time.
When Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, he replied "That's where the money is."
Asking us the "why" of trips like this will get you a similar answer...
Because that's where the bargains are.
We're also looking forward to a few days in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan and the home of the famous panda reserve.
