Heidelberg Castle

After an excellent breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn, we took an S-Bahn to the Heidelberg Old Town stop,  strolling from there over to the funicoride to the castle and beyond.

We managed to get on an English language tour that let us go inside, but between the quiet guide’s English challenges and a crying baby, it could have been Japanese.

Later we rode the small funicular to the top, and enjoyed both the view and the hot chocolate.

On the way back to the S-Bahn, we strolled along the Neckar River.

A pleasing first full day in Europe.
