What starts as a pizza stop turns into a three-course feast, starting with antipasti.
This local Lucchese wine, Howl of the Wolf, features a great label.
Tom spots a pasta with truffles on the menu, so we split two orders. It tastes as good as it looks.
Our lovely server recommends another wine, even cheaper (16 Euros) than the first. Excellente!
Finally the pizzas arrive.
All delicious and too much to finish, so we pack up some for breakfast.
A treat arrives, courtesy of the owners, a smooth liqueur and biscottis to dip in them.
Photos with the owner and his daughter before we leave. What friendly hosts they are!
We wend our way “home” with full tummies after a great finale to our stay in Lucca. We did manage to walk about 3 1/2 miles on Lucca’s cobblestone streets today, so maybe we’ll burn off some of the pizza.
Tomorrow, Monday, is our three-trains-to-Vernazza travel day.
