Rainy Vernazza

We finally make it to Vernazza an hour or so later than planned. We squeeze into a tiny ascensore and thereby skip one long flight of stairs.

We call Andrea, our landlord, who proves to be a cheerful fellow. He escorts us down a rainy street to our apartment. It’s, well, quaint.

Later we walk down to the famous harbor, but it’s rainy and windy so we don’t loiter. We buy the worst wine of the trip, retreat to our apartment, and play Spades.

It’s been quite a travel day, given the 65-mile distance from Lucca to Vernazza.
