Since our July 6 landing at FRA with Blane, we’ve visited a science museum in Mannheim, the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre in Paris, and in Rome Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, and the Forum.
Our travel days, while unavoidable if one wants to “cover” a lot of Europe in a short time, have been arduous. Today, in contrast, was a relatively relaxed day with no major problems.
Once we disembarked from our high-speed train at Venezia Santa Lucia, we bought two-day Vaporetto passes and found our way to Activ 2A, which gives us a fairly quick run to Sacca Fisola on Giudecca, and a 10-minute walk to the Hilton that’s our new favorite route.
We were disheartened by the huge crowds at first, but we made it aboard (masks required!) and most passengers got off at the first stop.
Almost before we knew it we’d landed at Sacca Fisola.and were checking in at the Hilton Molino Stucky.
We were pleased that Georgia from Guest Relations came out to give us a personal greeting, especially since we’d asked them to search our room for Brian’s misplaced passport on our most recent visit.
Our room is not bad.
After the closet-size rooms we’ve been staying in, Blane is suitably impressed. We even have some water views from our windows.
And in a final welcoming touch, a bottle of Prosecco is delivered.
Even if we were the kind of grandparents who would offer their grandson a tiny taste of Prosecco, his parents would no doubt be reassured has he found it disgusting.
We’re talking hypothetical situations. Blane and we agree that what happens in Venice stays in Venice.
He’s an excellent travel companion.
