Have we been bored during all of these sea days? Not at all. We wander around Marina, some of us play the works-of-art scavenger hunt, and we all play afternoon Team Trivia with our Toronto friends, Bud and Jessie (below).
Greg, Ellyn, Jessie, Brian, Bud, Kathy
We watch the odd show.
We enjoy the French Executive Chef’s presentation, a friendly duel with the Italian restaurant’s head chef.
When time permits, we study menus for upcoming meals. Oceania, after all, is a cruise line for foodies. At this point we’ve dined in three of the four specialty restaurants, two more than once. We probably won’t try the new Aquamar, which appears too healthy to appeal to us.
Tom and Greg were restaurateurs for many years, and started their careers as young waiters in the best (and only) French restaurant in Durango, CO. They are accordingly candid and knowledgeable food critics yet are generally pleased with Marina’s cuisine.
Who wouldn’t be?
Shrimp cocktail…
Pork Belly,,,
A USDA Prime Grade Porterhouse large enough to challenge Tom (yes, he finished it)…
A variety of tasty dishes…
Caesar Salad…
Always attentive service…
Dover Sole deboned at the table…
Soups and salads, including Brian’s favorites Navy Bean and Vichyssoise…
Greg’s discovery, a great salad in Jacques…
Kathy judged her Bouillabaisse in Jacques to be excellent…
We’re generally not a dessert crowd, but we’d be fools not to order these…
Quintette in Polo for those who want it all…
All in all, as we sail toward an Antigua dock in a few hours, perhaps it’s understandable that we’re quite content being all at sea.
